Kenadee's 4-H Pig

On the 12th-15th of August Kenadee had her pig at the Madison County Fair. She had to have it washed and ready to go on Wednesday so that it could be there before 6:00pm. This picture is of her washing him at home so that she could take him over that night.
I took this picture Thursday morning. Thursday morning she had to be there for the showing of the pig. They had to be in white shirts to show them before the judge. The judging that morning was for a couple of different things. The first was for showmanship. Which is basically how well they can lead the pig around the arena and keep control of the pig. That was a challenge. They separate them by if this is there first year or there 5th year. So that was nice. Kenadee's pig just wanted to put his head in the dirt and root once she would get him out of the dirt she could lead him pretty good until he got back to the fence. The second time they had to show the pig it was for quality. And that can all depend on what the judge might like better for the pig so it is kinda a guessing game on what to buy in the spring.

This is Kenadee leading Pepper around the arena. I might be a little bias but she was the prettiest one out there. I am so proud of her she did a great job. You can't see everyone else but there is about 10 other kids and there pigs in the arena at the same time. So if you can imagine trying to control your pig with 10 other pigs in there to that is really hard.

Saturday was when all the kids that brought animal were able to sale at the auction. So this is her selling her pig.
If you have ever been to an auction the auctioneer is kinda hard to understand because he is saying it so fast. At first the bidding began at $300.00 and i thought that she would maybe only get $400.00 because that is what most of them went for. Well next thing i knew the bidding was up to $700.00 It went up really fast so i started paying more attention to who was doing the bidding. Richard Larsen, Ray Barney(who was bidding for Grandma Robinson) and my DAD. The bidding ended at $925.00. By the time it was all said and done my Dad was the proud owner of Kenadee's Pig. I was so SHOCKED. I just sat there and cried and gave my dad the biggest hug. All i can say is WOW.

My dad left right after that and so i wasn't able to get a picture of him with Kenadee and her pig. My mom was there and so i made sure that at least on of the them was there to get the picture since she is also one of the proud owners of a fabulous pig. Kenadee had a great time doing 4-H and she is excited to do it again next year. I think that it was a great learning experience for her and us. It was fun but a lot of work to run in everyday twice a day to feed the pig and make sure he ha water. We are looking forward to it next year.

Update on Garden

I am sure that everyone is dying to know about the garden. It is doing really good almost to good. This picture is of some of the pumpkins and corn, peas, beans, onions, and squash on the far right. Emalee and Jaren standing in front of the pumpkins. One of the many times that we have been up there and weeded. I have to admit the weeding has not been as bad as you would think. We have kept them under control so when we do go up it is not bad.
This is a view of the Garden looking down on it from the butte.

All the many Pumpkins that are growing up there. Saturday when we went up to pick peas you could see all the big orange blossoms that are growing and we even have little pumpkins that are about the size of a apricot. It is very exciting to watch them all grow. Wish us luck.

Ryan's 36th Birthday

Ryan's birthday was on July 17. I am a little slow at posting but better late than never, right. He was so thrilled to have his picture taken with his Birthday crown. Unfortunately his birthday was on a work day so he had to work. But at least it was on a Friday that is a plus. Ryan threatened that i had better not plan a party so we all teased him that we had invited the neighbors and all the family and to make it even more fun i had rented a blowup play place that kids jump in, and we were having clowns, balloons, streamers, and a little petting zoo. And since we were on a roll he put in is two bits of what he wanted he wanted a great big cake that a person jumps out of, HAHA. He had to settle for these 4 clowns and these gifts that the kids and i got him.

And the cake wasn't a big cake that a person could jump out of, But i think that he was ok with this cake that i made for him. He wanted it to be a 4020 tractor so this was as close as i could get it. turned out pretty good for an amateur cake decorator.

For his birthday supper i made Lasagna. Other than that we had a pretty quiet night Ryan's mom came for cake and ice cream. And then we went to the sand Dunes for a ride in the Buggy. I think that he had an ok Birthday even if he didn't get the great big party.

Jaren is so ready to help blow out the candles.

4-H Pigs

Sorry i haven' posted for a while so i hope you will bear with me. Keep scrolling i think there are about 5-6 posts. HAVE FUN!
really have to give Kenadee some credit, she actually gets in with her pigs. Today they weight the pigs to see where they all were and i think that Ryan and Kenadee were sweating bullets. But they got some good news her pig that she named pepper weighed in at 191. And Salt was 143. She has two, though one is for back up in case the other one doesn't make weight. They have to weight 230 by the end of August. WOW that is amazing to me. Just last month they weighed 130 and 100. So that is pretty good. Ry said they have gained about 2 1/2 pounds a day since the last weigh in. These are pictures of Kenadee bathing her pigs. I guess pigs have to be clean!!! Pepper is pretty good he lets Kenadee pet and wash him. I am more amazed that she will do it.

Sand Dunes

4th of July

On the 4th of July Ryan took us to the Sand Dunes in the Morning/Noon. We got out to Chokcherry and the whole time Emalee kept asking if we were on chok yet. Well when we got there there was no one there. We thought that maybe there was something going on somewhere else that we were missing out on. Ryan says that this picture is proof that Kenadee got her glare from me. HAHA

After we were done Ry went up to help his dad for a couple of hours while i got the kids ready for the day and make what needed to be made for the Barbecue at my mom's. The food is always wonderful, We had Hamburgers, salads, homemade root beer, and Strawberry shortcake. I think that we were all so full. Before we ate I had Melanie my sister take a picture of us before Jaren decided to get dirty. Which could happen at any moment.

Jaren's first time with Sparklers. Not sure about them. But he found the noisy ones a little nerve wracking. But never cried which was a plus.

Emalee also enjoying her Sparkler.

Everyone starting their sparklers, what a smoky mess it was. We had a wonderful day and we are so grateful for the freedoms that we have and the family that we have been blessed with. I am so very grateful for my own little family and the blessings that have come into out lives from the Gospel. This all wouldn't be worth it if we didn't have our Families.

Ryan's Crazy Garden

Well i am sure that you are all dying to know how the garden is doing?? The top picture is of all the pumpkins there are about nine rows of them. About 4 rows of Corn, about 40 cucumbers plants, YEP 40 plants, HMMM, Carrots, Beans, Peas, 2 different kinds of Onions, Popcorn, Squash, Potatoes, and 2 different kinds of Lettuce. Yep all of that came up. NOW WHAT?????? We went up on Friday and Hoed the garden it took us about 2 1/2 Hours. We didn't go down each of the rows just around the plants and Ryan said he would figure something else for that.

Swimming Lessons

Kenadee and Dallin were able to do swimming lessons up at Green Canyon. They are like little fish up there in the water. It is about a 25 min. Drive for me, but it is totally due able. I take snacks and a blanket and the kids if it is nice ride there bikes around the camp grounds. This year was a little more rainy than in the years past but it was ok. It just wasn't so blasted hot and miserable. The kids had a good time. Kenadee passed level 5 and Dallin passed level 4. Next year Emalee is signed up to start. She is very excited. Kenadee is in the top picture and Dallin is in the bottom picture.

Crazy Weather

So this last month we had the most crazy weather. We had to move our animals for a few weeks over to Brett's so that they really wouldn't have to learn how to swim. This is in our backyard. It is the pasture that has our 1 horse and 7 cows in it until the rain literally brought the sub way up and flooded out our pasture.

We even had hail one day that covered our deck so it looked white. This picture is just some of the Hail.

The pasture looks like a river.

Baseball

Well i am a little slow at posting pictures of our summer so far. This Dallin playing machine pitch. When he slows down and really watches the ball he can hit a pretty good ball out there. If you look close you can see the ball almost in contact with the bat. PRETTY good picture i thought.(thanks to Ryan)

Another good hit!!

Ok, Kenadee is a girl and would rather pick flowers than watch for the ball. All thought she is looking at the ball in this picture. Which the ball is clear in the heck up there.

And this is the picture that totally cracks Ryan and I up if you can blow up the picture she is looking the opposite way of the ball. NOT even looking for the ball to come....HMMMM what is wrong with this picture??? She had fun thought and by the end she could hit the ball way out there.

She just hit the ball and made it to first base.

Brooks Robinson

Brett and Hannah had their baby this morning around six. She was very lucky and went in this morning around 4am and had him by 6:00am. Very quick. He weighed 6 lbs 11 oz 19 1/2 inches long. All went well. I think that he also has the Robinson nose. I think that we will go see them tonight and see how they are doing. CONGRATULATIONS Brett and Hannah.

Conn Harman

Chelsea and Jake Had their baby this morning around 5:00 A.M. He Weight a whopping 5lbs 12oz. 19 inches long. I think that the mom and dad are grateful to have him here. Coming into the world was a little exciting. She needed to be started because of high blood pressure. So they admitted her and 2 days later he decided to grace them with his presence. The umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck twice and Jake said that he was as blue as could be. They finally got him going and every thing is going good, the last that we heard. He looks wonderful in this picture. We can't wait to see him. CONGRATULATIONS Chelsea and Jake.

Kenadee's Gymnastic Recital

To go along with Chelsea's and Jake's big day Kenadee had a gymnastic recital that night at 6:00. So after we were done at the Temple we raced home to attend the recital. Kenadee did a great job. She was able to get 5 back hand springs in a row for the first time at the recital. That was really neat. It is on the video if i counted them right. It was a very long day but i am grateful that we were able to attend all that needed to be attended. After we took Kenadee to DQ for her favorite Shrimp Basket. Makell Hymas watched the kids during the day and did all the chasing for Kenadee and did her hair for the recital. She did a great job on her hair. Then we went and got the kids at my moms. We all slept in the next morning. This isn't the video that i wanted but i couldn't get the other one to down load but it still shows her doing her back hand springs.

A great Day

Yesterday we went to Twin Falls to go through a session with Chelsea and Jake. Then after they were sealed. Jake's Grandpa Harman did the sealing and he did wonderful. I am so glad that we were able to be there for there very special day. I think that every thing was so wonderful. And even if Chelsea doesn't think so she looks so cute, She totally glowed yesterday. The best part was that we were all able to be there. Marc and Shannon came from St Louise, All of us from Rexburg and Justin and Amy came from Boise. How neat It was to see us all There. Thanks Chelsea and Jake for the invite and having a very special day for us to all come together in one place, THE TEMPLE.

Our Crazy idea

Well here it is our 1 acre garden. YEP you read that correctly 1 acre Garden. Ryan wanted to try a Pumpkin Patch so he got the seeds in the winter and has been waiting very patiently to get them planted. So he realized that there was a lot of land there so we needed to fill it up with something. In our garden we have CORN, PEAS, BEANS, ONIONS, CUCUMBERS, LETTUCE, ROMAN LETTUCE, and of course PUMPKINS. They should be all size of Pumpkins. Once we got started we realized it really was a BIG garden. Wish us luck!!!

Memorial weekend

We Finally were able to take the Dune Buggy out to the dunes.Tyler left for Virgina so i wanted to make sure that he had a ride before he left on Tuesday. This spring we put a new motor in it. HOLY COW!! It totally picked up and went. We were able to climb Chokcherry with 6 of us in it with no problems. I think that this year we are going to be able to use it a lot with no worries. I think that Tyler had fun to. In this pictures it is Ryan, Tyler, Kenadee, Dallin, and Kaylie one of Kenadees Friends.

This is Ryan and Tyler Climbing Chokcherry with ease. HAHA I actually had fun doing it. It was scary last year. We never knew if we would make it.

I guess 4-wheelers and Dune Buggies are a bred apart from one another.Dune Buggies on one side and 4-wheelers on another.

Getting ready to climb one of the big bowls.

That is Ryan on the right. It is steeper than it looks once you start to climb. It takes your breath away. Most of the climbing we did was in second gear. Even Chok. At one point Ryan was going so fast that i had to turn my head to take a breath. It was a lot of Fun.
